On December 16, 2019, international meeting on the project “CROSS-BORDER DIALOGUE AND MULTI-USE PLANNING IN THE PASVIK AND GRENSE JAKOBSELV CATCHMENTS” was held at the visitor center of Pasvik Reserve.
Project leading partner Anne F. Smeland visited visitor-center to discuss further joint plans and working schedule for 2020, as well as a draft narrative.
Currently, implementation of the Project has moved to the third stage - planning. Planning process includes determining measures necessary to maintain and improve ecological status of ecosystems on river catchments. Project partners involve regional authorities, various organizations, local people and other interested parties in the planning process.
In addition, during the meeting were discussed issues on budget, reporting periods, upcoming meetings within the project (such as ecological education seminar in March 2020, which is planned to be held in Svanvik (Norway)).
Projects are implemented in framework of Cross border cooperation program Kolarctic CBC 2014-2020 as a part of European Neighboring Instrument (ENI), that is supporting development of general welfare and good neighborly relations between EU countries and their neighbors; moreover, financing is given not only by EU, but also by each partner-country, including Russia, equally.
